Please join us for the next CONSEG meeting as we discuss ways to make our communities more sustainable, where to focus our efforts to be most effective, and how to have a positive impact.
Two expert speakers will lead off the November 10 program – Louise Yeung and Mike Newman. Louise is an Urban and Environmental Planner at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) where she focuses on the intersection of environmental policy and urban planning. She is interested in how to develop sustainable communities and ecosystems, and focuses on effective public engagement in decision-making processes. Mike is an architect in Chicago, currently at SHED Studio. His work has focused on design innovation for issues of sustainability and affordability in housing and social justice projects. Mike is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Chicago and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
There will be time in the program for Q and A, so please come with questions and examples of how your community is addressing the issue of sustainable suburban planning. If you are looking for inspiration, you may want to read this article about Evanston’s successes.
After the program, there will be time for community updates. Also, we’d like each group to share an example or two of how CONSEG has led to real progress in your community. Have you learned something or made a contact that has helped you move forward? Did an idea from CONSEG help you solve a challenge? Please be prepared for someone in your group to share your answers at the meeting.
We need an accurate account of attendees, so please reply [email protected] you plan to attend.
